Tasting Notes

Vino: Weingut Seehof Riesling Feinherb 2019, Rheinhessen, Germany
Fiori: Lemon Blossom from the lemon tree (Citrus x limon)

In response to the warmer days we've been having here in New York, we've prepared many Asian and Mediterranean dishes that use acidic marinade such as citrus juice and vinegar. Thus, our food profile has been predominantly acidic, flavorful, spicy, and with the use of garlic as a main ingredient.

Spicy flavors when paired with high alcohol content wines often result in bitterness. Therefore, we wanted aromatic wines with a lower alcohol level in the style of German Rieslings.

For a good price point, we recommend this bright, off-dry Riesling from Rheinhessen; citrus and apple on the nose, bright minerals and lemon on the palate, with a silken texture and crystalline clarity characteristic of wines produced in the region. It is therefore fitting that our flower pairing be the lemon blossom, a delightful zesty citrus with herbaceous green and lily-of-the-valley fragrant notes.
